Privacy policy

This site exists to show you your own IP address. Doing that requires reading it. It does not require keeping it, and we do not.
What we process
Your IP address and connection metadata. Your request reaches a Cloudflare edge server, which knows your IP address, the approximate location associated with it, your network operator, and the protocol and TLS version your browser negotiated. Those values are rendered directly into the page you receive and then discarded when the request ends.
We keep no request logs. There is no database of visits, no file of addresses, and nothing to hand over, breach or sell.
Under the GDPR an IP address is personal data, and we treat it as such. Our lawful basis for processing it is your request: you asked a service whose only function is to tell you your IP address, and it cannot answer without reading it.
Cookies
We set no cookies and use no tracking pixels.
Your browser’s local storage is used for exactly two preferences, both stored only on your own device and never transmitted: your light/dark theme choice, and whether you dismissed the language suggestion. Clearing site data removes them.
Analytics
We run no analytics script. There is no beacon, no tag manager and no third-party request of any kind — something you can confirm in your browser’s network panel. What we see is what Cloudflare counts for any site on its network: totals for requests and errors, aggregated and never tied to a visitor.
The API
/api/me and /api/ptr return, to you, the same facts the page shows. /api/ptr performs a reverse-DNS lookup through Cloudflare’s public resolver at 1.1.1.1. No request to either endpoint is logged by us.
Advertising
The site currently carries no advertising. If that changes, this page will be updated before any ad is served, and visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland will be asked for consent through a Google-certified consent management platform before any personalised advertising cookie is set.
Third parties
Cloudflare provides the hosting and the network edge. Cloudflare processes your request in order to deliver the page and applies its own security and abuse protections; see Cloudflare’s privacy policy for what that involves.
Flag images are served from this domain. No fonts, scripts, frames or resources are loaded from any other domain — which you can verify in your browser’s network panel.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection. In practice we hold nothing about you to which they could attach — there is no record to produce or delete. If you believe otherwise, write to us and we will investigate.
